E3 2023 cancelled

So there's a PlayStation showcase announced for next week, which means we'll probably hear what their next port over to PC will be (not that TLOU was a great example of how to do that).

So what do you think will be next? I've given up on Bloodborne TBH, unless they decide to remaster it for PS5 as well. Ghost of Tsushima looks a good bet?
I'd love it, and still hold hope, but it doesn't really make sense for Bloodborne to come out at this point, not unless they've remastered it like you mentioned and touched up the online etc. Odd that there were so many strong rumors up until recently, I do think they must have been working on something.

Looking at what's out Ghost of Tsushima would be the favorite for me as well, Demon's Souls is a possibility, maybe even Gran Turismo 7 now that the VR support has landed? I think all of these were part of the nvidia leak the other year which was pretty nailed on. Horizon Forbidden West is probably a given as well at some point, that's already over a year old.

You got two hopes for GT coming to PC, bob hope and no hope. It's Sony's biggest IP.

I really don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility these days, a few years ago yes I wouldn't have entertained the thought, but nearly all their other big franchises have made their way over in some form.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to come over as I love racing games, but I just can't see it happening.

This is shame, especially for smaller developers. I went a few years ago and it was great! But, with all the larger companies holding their own events now, I'm not surprised it has been canceled.

Is Gamescom still going?
Gamescom kept on trucking even through the pandemic with online events. It always felt less impactful than regular E3 in the past. I wonder if Keighley and his Summer game fest gets even more attention or Gamescom does. Or maybe more companies do their own thing given how everything is online these days.

E3 is officially DEAD!

I liked it when it was E3,

With them all doing their own thing at seemingly random times I feel it's getting lost in the general noise of the internet. There's so much content be posted constantly i find it difficult to follow

Given E3 was part back slapping exercise, part industry love-in and part financially crippling and development halting, as well as not even being open to the public, I can't say I'm surprised. When it started it was the best way to get magazines and traditional media outlets together as well as network in a big way and I'm sure loads of publishing contracts were signed behind the scenes as well but in this current age of instant news, tiktok, twitch and YouTube drawing in millions of viewers it became unnecessary and a reminder of times gone by.
