Once awesome cars. Almost all now either:

a) Ruined by morons
b) Overpriced for the few nice ones.

Boat sailed long ago IMHO.

I've been looking for one recently, as Fox has said, hard to get hold of a good one at a reasonable price.

I'm after one that's at least had the clutch, VANOS, and MAF's sorted, though two out of the three wouldn't be too much of an issue.

I did spot one that sounded good in the advert, but the owner had no idea, but could recite back stuff about his BBK and interior mods which put me off.

Epic cars though, would really love one.

The clutch is just generic and the MAFS are generic VW parts..

True enough, but if some of them have already been done, it'll save some expense in the future

I'm keeping my eyes open and researching as I go so I know exactly what I should be looking for and what the real world running costs are.

Pretty much this. A year or two ago a decent one was 7/8k, now they're about 10k/11k.

I's say they're still awesome. 400bhp V8 not to be sniffed at.
