No leather is going to really hammer the value of this car - even at this age it makes a big difference simply because without leather a large proportion of the market simply wont view the car.

Yep, leather and all the toys are essential to get a good resale on an E39. Mine has a ton of toys, and still there are some more which would have been nice to get

It's hardly poverty spec though as the standard level of equipment is very generous. Unfortunately it's just a spec that a good proportion of buyers will simply filter out.
Ok, lets ignore the dual zone climate, cruise, multifunction wheel, remote total closure, auto recirc, auto dimming mirrors, DSC, etc etc etc and brand it proverty spec becuase it has a tape player.
