I have a p5ke running a e4300 @2.4 but in cpuz i have noticed that the core speed jumps from 2.4 to around 1.6 when idling, is this normal? Also when this happens the multiplier switches between 6&9

Speed step. Turn if off in the BIOS, or leave it on if your not planning on overclocking. It's totally normal, don't worry.

Also, can someone for the love of god stickie something about it?! How many threads on this do we need?!

sorry if i didnt find another thread lol, not been on here for a while, i thought it might have been speedsteping but i couldnt find an option in the bios to turn it of, would you happen to know where it is?

Maybe called EIST, I keep it on though, no point in having it running full speed when idle. EIST runs it cooler, quieter, and with less power consumption, winner all round.
