A BMW is a car, what has been said applies to it as well as other cars - shock horror!
BTW the 318i/ci sport comes with wider rear tyres and Michelin PS2 tyres as standard if it's all been looked after at a dealer and probably won't cost much less than 18" tyres. BMW wanted well over £500 when I asked about PS2 prices and that was with indy price discount!
Whatever car you get get tyres from elsewhere to save a wad of £££.

Only somebody with no sense buy's PS2's because they are the most expensive tyres on the planet and despite this price tag are not as good as cheaper alternatives like Vredestien Ultra Sessenta, Eagle F1 Assymetric or Contisport Contact 3.

Yup, a lot of people just keep doing what has always been done and this includes continuing with OEM fitment tyres.
Mine had Dunlop SP Sport 2000E's all round which were the OE fit for the 17 inch E39 Sport wheels, for example.
They went in the bin not longer after
PS2s last ages and ages and ages on E46. Mine came with the car and I found no history of them being changed by the previous owner so they'd done well over 20k miles.
Will see how long the Vreds last as they do feel better than the rock hard PS2s

But considering invoices that came with the car were all dealer printed I'd have thought the last owner would have at least especially considering how carefully the car was looked after!
Ah well, still great tyres either way, they had half the tread of a new tyre all round when I got them and did around ~12-15k before changing them.

You might be able to get a facelift model for that sort of money, which includes the updated nose, LED rear clusters and a 6-speed box...
