yeah mate, it was because speed step was still active i think, i read the whole thread again then noticed you said it right at the top

speed step should be off by default imo, then turned on if u want

it was on allready, just updated the bios which was stock settings. can anyone help me with setting the fsb/ram ratio on that board?

I've not had any problems with speed step with my overclock on my E5200 and that's now at nearly 4ghz.

Theres no real reason to turn speed step off, I dont think it interferes with overclocks that much and its good for saving energy/the life of your chip.

yeah youve got a piont there, it was just annoying me seeing it swapping and changing, i think i will try it both ways as im learning to overclock it

From what i`ve read on here,turn it off while your finding your max overclock and then if you want turn it back on when you have a stable overclock and see how it goes.
After all if your just browsing the forums you don't really need a quad core cpu running@4ghz!!!
