I am currently trying to find out how much my spare pc is worth as i want to sell it, been looking on a well known auction site and pretty much all of them are listing them as 5.0GHz. surly this isnt possible is it?

They are just trying to trick people. Its a 2.5GHz cpu but because its 'dual core' the multiply it by 2 = 5GHz, dont fall for it. They do the same for quad-cores as well. i.e listing a 3.0GHz quad-core as being 12GHz

ah right, i was gunna say, mine at best would only go to 3GHz ish i think, cant remember been a long time since i used it. so i am safe then using their prices as a guide, was put off when i thought there is no way i can match 5GHz.

pretty much every E5200 should do at the very least 3.4 ghz afew of them will do 4 ghz but ye someones adding the 2 cores together just ignore them tbh.

Havent checked the massive e5200 thread recently, but we never actually had anyone truly document (go into depth on overclocking methods used) a 5200 that couldnt do 3.6ghz. And I'm not talking about the later stepping ones either. All of them.

A lot did give up at (iirc) 220 ish fsb which iirc was about 3.6ghz.

Yeh the prices on said ebay site, all be it abit over priced are good to go by if ur selling one on there.

My last cpu was a E5200, ofcourse people that want to be honest list them as what they are a dual core cpu @ 2.5ghz. Also you will get a lot more people willing to buy if ur totally honest, i even mentinoed and linked to cpuz that i had it overclocked, still sold well as i was honest.
