E5200 vs E2160

A 5200 will see you 4ghz as it has a 12.5 multi and is extremely easy to overclock.

Sorry but no it won't. Most are topping out at 3.6-3.8Ghz and then only if you are lucky. I can get mine to run at 4Ghz but it fails prime straight away. Same with 3.8Ghz. Currently settled at 3.6Ghz as it is prime stable with low volts. T(this is in my second rig by the way). Most of the E5200's that people have on this forum will not go any further even with excessive volts. Others are stuck at 3.2-3.4Ghz. It's pot luck what you get and does'nt seem to matter where you get it from either.

Not really worth the cash over a E2160 clocked at 3Ghz. Yes there will be a performance increase but it won't be massive.

Basically you'd get an extra 1Mb cache and ~500-600mhz. Get a e8x00 series...

However syaing that, my mates e5200 only seemed to like 3.33Ghz...

Yep, on average, with mid-range mobos, the E5200s seem to top out at 3.4Ghz.

Still, as someone who went from an E2160 @ 3ghz, to an E6550 @ 3ghz, to a E5200 @ 3.4Ghz, each step has seen an improvement, and cost me nothing.

400mhz and double the cache is a marked improvement over my E2160, and it runs cooler. :)
