OK,

Tonight the engine warning light has come on in my E60; oil change is due in 700 miles and engine check is due on 1200 miles. There are no control messages.

Is this normal behaviour because of the imminent services, or would it be something else?

I've only driven it about 6 miles this evening and the light was on all the time (this is the yellow light in the control cluster). I turned it off and back on again, in true helpdesk style, and it made no difference.

Unfortunately I've not had chance to look for a reputable indy yet. My Volvo indy specialist have said they do BMW as well, but they are primarily Volvo. Would prefer to find someone who specialises in BMWs.

In a bit of a pickle at the moment though, I need to have a car right now and most of the indys don't provide courtesy cars.

Am ringing round at the moment.

It is already booked in, for the 11th of December.

However, I want to get the warning light looked at ASAP. Normally I would be more relaxed about such things, but current circumstances mean that I have to have a car in full working order.

Have now found a garage who can take it on the 4th and provide a loan car. Think that's the best I'm going to get at this notice.
