e6300 @3ghz check for mistakes

hi,
having finally setup my conroe system i realised i had no idea what to do and after blundering my way through the bios and quite frankly selecting settingswhich i had no idea of what they would do i reached 3ghz, but it cant be this easy so i thought i would post cpuz screenies for you knowledgeable types to check for mistakes, thanks James

Set the RAM to the 2.0 multiplier (1:1). You might need to loosen the timings. Other than that it's fine.

I'm not sure on that board, but it'll be in the list of BIOS settings.

Which G.Skill ram is it?

its the g skil pc2 6400 cas 4 ram

Ah good. It should be able to run fine at those timings at 1:1 with the FSB.

I'm using the Geil pc6400 but it should be the same. My fsb is 410 so the ram is at 1:1

Is this OC prime and game stable?

What are your voltages looking like?

yeah i primed it for 32 hours and it games fine aswell. the only problem is whatever i do it will not run 1:1, ive just noticed something in the asus handbook about ODT requirements and it being downgraded. but i cant find whether my G skill hz meets these requirements or not. can anyone shed any light on this?

Odd. Will it run 1:1 with the timings at 5-5-5-15?

And have you updated the BIOS?

yeah im on the latest bios and tried every different variation of timings and voltages (safe ones only) and dividers but 1:1 will not work

Have a read through this thread over at XtremeSystems. The first page mentions timings problems with that board but I didn't read far enough to see if it can be solved.

I can't see the Geil being any different tbh. Unless you really need the wi-fi I'd say changing the board might be a better bet.

its all resolved now. cheers for all the help. turns out that the issue with this board and the e6300 is that it cannot run 1:1 over 400. but its not too bad, still bloody quick, might get a 6400 though.

And using a E6400 will solve the problem and get overclocks of above 400 mhz @ 1:1. Might have to invest in a better CPU.
