E6300 - E6600

Im thinking of moving to e6600 due to i want 3.8ghz mark or something like that possibly 3.6ghz with the 4mb cache i aint sure yet i have my E6300 at 3.4ghz u reckon its worth the move?

On air it's fairly uncommon to get 3.6ghz, and very rare to get 3.8ghz with an E6600.

So unless you actually NEED the extra speed then no, it's not worth it at all, your E6300 is fine as it is. Upgrade your video card instead if you want more gaming performance.

I dont realy play high performance games atm so i aint realy bothered about video card i will update that anyways im just thinking of gettin E6600

most overclock to 3.6ghz

It's your money, so if you want it just purely for the fun of overclocking something new (we've all done that in the past) then buy it, just don't expect 3.8ghz or any real noticeable difference in performance for general tasks. And on air most are on ~3.4ghz, 3.6ghz+ is a good overclock.

Took me 4 different E6600's to find 1 that did 3.6Ghz+ Stable.

IMO dont bother lol, its just not worth the outlay for what you'll get. Unless like me and as Richdog says you want to do it purely for the fun of Overclocking.

Either that or loook into that tasty looking new E6420

ive spent aver a month fine tuning my system i can get 4.0ghz on air to run 3dmarks but orthos just overheats it and crashes.. to get orthos stable i need 3.8ghz but for 24/7 use i use 2.7ghz.. but i deffo have a good chip... its luck of the draw

You only run at 2.7ghz 24/7? Mine does that without breaking a sweat, want to swap?
