Hi Guys

Been a while since I had my last upgrade but managed to get some money for one. Thinking about those two processors not sure which one to choose. wonder if you could give me some tips which one to go for.

I have £350 to spend on basic parts

cpu, mobo and ram.

I'm thinking about these what you guys think?

E6400
Gigabyte DS3
Geil 2gb pc6400 ddr2 value

PS what is the difference between ds3 and ds3 pro?

cheers :)

i recently got the e6300 well friday morning and its running at 3hz now with a little tinkering.

and performs very well from what i have tested it with today ie games and some benching tools.

i got the asus p5b mobo its easy to config(once i asked a few ppl and rtfm) and was at a good price.

havent looked at the price difference but i have the geil ddr2 ultra and feel they are pretty good stuff to use and i have found them reliable.

From what i have read the 8 multi of the E6400 does help with the overclocking and its only £27 more than the E6300. There are quite a few very competitively priced and great performing 965 and 650i mobos around like theds3 and p5n-e, any of which will serve you well :)

6400 here on stock cooler and stock everything and its running at 3200, never crashes. Would go higher easily if i had faster ram and a proper cpu cooler but i cant see the point in the extra cash it costs + noise for the sake of another 200mhz which i would never notice.
