Hi,
Anyone know what the max temp under load is for this processor?

Mine idles at 42 c and hits 62 under 100% load(according to TAT anyway).

Seems everybody has a different opinion on the max temp, so I thought Id ask here.

I have overclocked to 2.4.

Temps at standard settings were 41 c idle and 59 under load.

Another question

Do I have to enable anything in the mobo settings to shut it down when it gets too hot,or does the cpu do it automatically?

Is it thermal management or something like that?
 
I'm pretty sure it does it automatically, the rest is related to speedstep, which turns down the voltage and multiplier when the processor is inactive, to save power.
 
i would say they are alright, maybe on the high sid but tbh i would putt that down to ambient temps/case flow, as we have heaters radiators on. my qx6800 run around the same as you according to coretemp maybe even abit higher on idle so i wouldnt worry, these babies will do "atleast" 85 before damage occurs, as stated the damage will only occur if the PC has to shuut down due to higher temps above 80-85
