Ok, as you overclock the CPU it increases the chance of the chip catching fire... which can happen when electrodes reach a certain temperature. That's why I reccommend people don't overclock unless then need the extra power, or are fully away of the consequences of doing so. And as for my other comment, when I buy a CPU I want it to last at least 20 years... overclocking it will shorten that lifespan to 15 years. Which is no good to me.

please tell me this is a joke ?

Goodness grief... I bet some of you a complete scream at parties... i'm sensing some stereotypically nerd-like senses of humour in here (or should I say lack of). It should be completely and utterly mind-numbingly obvious that I wasn't being serious, a 3-second glance at my other posts would be able to tell you that. How ridiculous do statements have to be before you don't take them literally and twig that someones being sarcy? Overlocking causes cancer? A fairy dies for each mhz you raise?

Or no actually... electrodes DO cause computers to explode when overclocked, and I DO want to run my CPU for 20 years... honest...

*slaps forehead* :p

Interesting - the seem like a fairly logical stopgap between the current C2Ds and the 45nm chips... Still I think I'm gonna hold out till the next gen...
45nm chips? When? Where? They should run cooler and reduce the chance of exploding houses, right? I'm still running a very dangerous 130nm chip right now. ;)

it arrived yesterday, but I've not had chance to fit it yet. It's going in tonight. Either on the standard cooler or an SI-128.
Ive got an Abit QuadGTboard. Hoping to get a nice clock from it :D

Has anybody else got there's fitted and seen how far they can go?>

Mike

Are you using pushpins to mount the SI-128, or did you burchase the bolt-through adapter? I had a nightmare trying to get my SI-128 onto my DS3 using puchpins... I had to scrap it in the end and I bought a Noctua instead.

Haha, I am a big fan of dry/dead-pan humour but it just doesn't work on the internet unless you use an emote ;)

Of course it does, you just weigh up the ridiculousness of it vs the probability of it being genuine. This forum is full of smileyless sarcasm, I see it every day. Just have to be sharp enough I s'pose. To be honest though Wayne it was pretty damn obvious... I could have made up any further rubbish, even involving radiation, and you'd still have questioned it in that spock-like manner. :p
