Hi there!:)

First proper overclock , so i have questions :)

CPU = E6420 Stock air cooler
Ram = 1 x GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz
1 x G.skill 2GB DDR2 HK PC2-6400C4
Total 4 Gig
Mobo = Gbyte GA-965P-DS3 (latest bios)

Right :)!

Ive been reading up and i have done the following

Disabled;

EIST
C1E

Changed the following;

V Core = 1.45
MCH + 0.1
FSB + 0.1

System Memory multi currently = 2.4

Memory Freq goes above 800 with below, do i want to keep this at 800, or close to by dropping the memory multi ?

FSB 285 (x8) seems fine
FSB 300 (x8) Blue screened with a ram error

(i cant go above x8)

So im stuck basically and am looking for some help, with the ram!:), i can see the options with Cntrl + F1 in bios just clueless what to do

(ps screen dump with ram setting would be nice ;))

Cheers Kevin

First off that ram configuration you have is not a good idea...

1 dual channel kit & then a single stick, that will hinder performance...

Which slots have you got the Geil in ? (should both be in the same colours slots & pref slot 1 & 3)

I would then remove the Gskil, for clocking & put it back later if you really have to (best idea would be to sell all of your ram and replace it with a 2x 2gb kit)

In bios the timings on your ram should be set to auto for clocking, you can worry about setting them later!

Its set out the way its ment ie in the same colours :), i couldnt resit the price in weekly only deals for 4 gig as qwars was running horrid with out it :(

Right try number 2!

Ortho running for 30 min

Taken from CPU - Z

CPU

Core Speed 2240
Multiplier x 8
Bus Speed x 280
Rated FSB 1120
Core V 1.312

Memory

Freq 420 Mhz (should be 400 ?)
FSB: DRAM 2:3
Cas Latency 5
RAS - > Cas 6
RAS Precharge 6
Cycle Time 20
cmd rate 2t

Temp's

Mobo 37
CPU 44

I dont think the memory stuff should be like that at all, idealy i would like the cpu to be 2500 :)

Try number 3 :)!

I have swapped Orthos for Prime 95!

Core #0 58
Core #1 58

Just under 30 min of use, is this to high ?, i have been looking for the replacement fans on ocuk and i was wonder if they just fit in like the intel one did (the 4 screws bits) if so could some one point me at a decent one ?

Also would thermal paste make much of difference i just used the stuff that came with the cpu :$

Thanks for your help!
