Heya folks

I finally managed to get my new system up and running at last and I was hoping for a bit of advice.

I've got the Intel E6600 cpu installed with the standard cpu cooler that came with it (originally had this huge Zalman flower thing but attaching it broke my mobo so I had to get another one :( ) and I was told that even with this standard boxed cooler it's come with I should be able to clock it up a little bit (running at the standard 2.4ghz right now). So I was wondering it anyone out that could recommend/tell me what settings I need to change in the bios - and to what - to maybe put it up a bit more, hopefully 2.6ghz or something...well, to whatever I might be able to get with it as it stands right now :)

Oh - and if anyone has a recommendation as to an alternative cpu cooler 9was told about the Artic Freezer 7 or somehting like that) that would also be most appreciated :)

Noctua-UF12 is good, ive got one and its bloody massive but very effective.

Mine is cooling my E6600 which is OC'd to 3.0ghz (not that much of an OC but keeps its cool) around 30-40C.

Put the VCore on manual (about 1.3 should be good for starters), and start increasing the FSB gradually, checking for Orthos blend stability 30mins test (see OC sticky for details). 333FSB should be doable.

This Orthos thing - is that a downloadable application? I'm obviously not going to try and overclock it the heights of 3ghz, but if I can get maybe if I can get mine to 2.6ghz that'd be great - I just need to make sure of the settings in bios and maybe run something to check it out during a test.

I've had a couple of folks tell me that speed is doable :) But I only have the standard Intel cooler that the cpu came with in the box - but one of the OCUK guys said I should be able to get around 2.9 to 2.9ghz even with that - does that sound ok?

And about Orthos - is it something I run from dos or in the windows desktop?

Desktop.

Try and raise the FSB to 300 to achieve just over 2.9GHz.
