E6600 in CPU-Z

Yeah thats what I do but start it about an hour before I go to sleep/out so I can see what the temperatures are in case they get too high.

Not trying to pressure you into overclocking it however I think you might be able to save £30 on a cooler! Since you wouldnt be increasing the voltages on the chip it shouldnt run too much over what it would at stock speeds. I only noticed a few degrees difference.

I think i'd rather watch 8 hours of Orthos than another 10mins of NUFC being raped by Liverpool at home. :(

Been ok for ages, then had a couple of problems today.

It didn't like being moved to 400 x 7 from 400 x 6, did the usual crashing and resetting when swapping windows profiles.

How much more voltage did you feed it? A 400Mhz step is quite a biggie.

Had my E6600 running at 355x9 (3.2Ghz) the other day, and tried moving it to 400x8 for the sake of my RAM (the same Giel 6400 as yours) but it demanded a chunk more voltage for the privilege and thus temps shot up.

Remember that no two chips are the same. Just because someone else has managed to get an E6600 running stable at 3.2Ghz running at stock voltages doesn't mean you will.

I'm impressed you've managed 25 degrees idle with the stock cooler however, I can't get mine to go under 30 degrees with a Zalman. :P

The chip is 2nd hand mate, and in the same board it went to 3.2ghz stable under stock volts.

I was thinking of giving it a bit more juice, but will wait as i've got a Freezer 7 coming tomorrow for extra cooling protection.

Might as well for £12.

I'm just wondering if its a power issue.

My dads just bought these things you plug in and can turn off the power supply to electrics by remote.

Well through that the computer started to behave like it had been overclocked.

I wonder if its anything to do with my PSU (400W) or something to do with my power from the wall, or even the extention cable with extra plugs on it.

Well now on 600w, with Vista on a new HD and it hasn't restarted yet (although i've not pushed it or OC'd it in any way) but it keeps on making a noise as if its switching itself off, load click and power down of fans, then it stays on still, weird, this thing is just bloody weird.
