ive currently got my e6600 running at 3.2ghz, using 355x9 with near enough standard voltage. im happy with current speed, but wondered if i would see any benefit of trying 400x8 to get the same result?? (bandwith)
will it cause complications with my ram?? its rated at 667, but is currently at around 700 something, 2.ov.
im mainly use it for gaming.

Thanks for all input and time taken to help. its very much appreciated.

If your ram can take it, then great, but you'll need to slacken the timings (make them bigger) to allow the RAM to run at that speed. Or you could sell that RAM and get some DDR2 800 stuff.

Nope you aren't :p You can't run unlinked memory on that board and the lowest mem multi will be 1:1. Meaning 400x8 would run the ram @ 800mhz :)

pwned!

But it's true.. May no need to slackn timings, ram may just overclock to that speed on those timings, might need a slight voltage bump, best thing to do is to try it, test it, and keep the settings which give you the best performance.

i have the same cpu and at 9x355 3195mhz DDR2 710mhz

Hope this helps

I found I got a better speed at X9 395. Was getting roughly the same overall clock speed at 8X and increasing the FSB to match but in the end found i was getting a better overclock out of my memory.

Just have to see what suits your system best. In the past i have always had a better overclock from a lower multiplier.
