e6600 overclocking problem-solved

Hi, so you know this is my 1st time over clocking which may explain this result.

I have a e6600 (watercooled) , ds3 and 2gb geil pc6400. Ive managed to set the ram manually to 4,4,4,12 with 2.1volts. But if i change the fsb from 266 to say 300 and change nothing else and save in bios, the pc just doesnt boots up just stays on with monitor on standby and i have to turn it off and wait 20 secs before it boots up with default clock. What am i doing wrong here?

Thanks

Have you set your PCI clocks to 33.33 and PCI-E to 100?

Also make sure you turn off any kind of speedstep or other throttling utils.

Looking around quite a few people seem to be havig problems with the Geil ram and overclocking, which may explain why it's so cheap. I'll stick to Crucial / Corsair when I order mine I think.

Its quite weird , even if i increased the fsb by 1 in the bios the pc wont boot. But i tryed an on desktop overclock program and that worked got 3.2ghz with 1.36v , although when i restart the pc i loose the overclock.

Well i have seem to have fixed it , i updated the bios from f10 to f11 , now it seems to be fine , running at 3.2ghz (8x400) at 1.312volts, with ram at 4-4-4-12 at 2.1volts. With core 0/1 temps at 23-25c idle, 40c underload.
