Im having some temp issues here.

e6600 processor
Geil 2Gb PC6400C4 800Mhz memory
Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard
Sythe ninja cooling
as5 paste

The case is a coolermaster wavemaster

Im getting temps with coretemp and intel tat of 38 to 40degrees plus on idle on both cores. Any sort of load and they are up to 59 degrees plus.

Bought the processor with a view to oc'ing but at these temps im guessing i don't have a chance!?!?!

Help? Please?

I had similar temps and im under custom water. Lapped cpu and temps down to 35 idle (thats with a big voltage boost as well) and 50 load

Conroes ihs' are more bent than graham norton - you just got to lap them

Thanks for the replies!

Just searched for lapping. I take it the aim is to remove the nickel from the ihs to get to the copper?

And these high temps are not all that unusual?

all depends on how concave the ihs is on them.
my d805 was terrible. lapped it to within a thou of its life and knocked 20 degrees off the temps.

The only way i know how to skim is with a lathe or mill ;) Don't fancy trying that with my precious processor.

Just get the sandpaper out then?

what!....just get a piece of plate glass, couple of sheets of 400,800 grit wet/dry and lap it till its flat.

Id take it finer than 400 and 800. Start with those 2 and then go to 1000, 1500 and 2000 to finish it off
