Hi

I have a E6850 3GHz CPU used to be at 3.7 have had it to 4.104 before for cpu-z but it got unstable at 3.7 so back to stock now, how does this CPU compare to the best stuff out there now as it is getting on a bit now and I might need to upgrade it.

Thanks

Well its still not a bad CPU but it depends what sort of things you are doing. That CPU clocked at 3.5Ghz paired with a decent graphics will play most games perfectly well.

cool I thought it was a heap of junk lol but maybe its ok still

it can probably do 3.5 with near to stock vcore

just need to get a better gfx card as the 7800gtx is obviously very old now but in its day it was well good.

I just use it for a bit of gaming older games though but might buy some newer ones soon when I get a better gfx card and the usual facebook, msn, forums etc.

I'm running my C2D 6850 at 3.6 and it can pretty much cope with anything coupled with my 4870 gfx. The only thing it seems to slow down with is video encoding but I don't do much of that. Still trying to persuade myself I need an upgrade, but I really don't think I do!

What is the highest MHz anyone of you has got from a E6850? For me it's 4104MHz on air (Thermalright 120 ultra extreme with a 120mm scythe fan)

That is extreme to say the least!! crazy voltages though, I can't even go above 1.8 on this but when I set that its more like 1.75 actual IDLE and it gets sooooooooo hot over 80C so 1.6v is usually the max I can set without it overheating.

Yep too right, thanks for the link, very interesting.

I hold the WR on air for a AMD 3500+ Venice A64 CPU but I have never tried anything more than air, even WC due to lack of knowledge.

Think I had for 3.7GHz 1.475v in BIOS but less actual in OS.

oh 3.8 thats getting hard to acheive stable IMO with this CPU on air, you may need 1.5v or over to stand a chance it will get hot!

As you can see, I'm running at 1.38V stable for 4Ghz.

Dmnit though, I need to get past 4Ghz. Temps are good but I need to learn about NB voltages I think.

I have hit 4104MHz from my E6850 with 1.6v or maybe 1.65v I cant remember exactly but I have CPU-Z proof, somewhere! But I shouldnt have to prove it cos I did it I just dont know where the screenshot/linkage is. 4GHz stable from it though now that could MAYBE be doable on GOOD water cooling with 1.6v but im not 100%, 3.9 though quite possibly.

1.6v on air is the highest I can use within reason, 1.8 it just goes crazy and is no good. It could be stable at 3.9 or so with 1.6v if my cooling fan was a bit better.
