E6850 vs Q6600 overclock

I'm still stuck in yesteryear though, thinking games and such are single-threaded...

:D

Looking at something like Bio Shock though, it can take advantage of multiple cores, so I guess it's the Q6600.

Thanks!

I have an e6850. Got it before the g0 quads were available. Its fast, and you wont really notice any problems or slowdown with it.

But, get the q6600. It is just as fast, but you have 4 cores if you need them.

Cant go wrong with either, but the quad is definitely a lot more right.

it depends on how frequently you upgrade tbh, honestly many high end users people on here upgrade thier cpu every 6 months or less, if you think your going to keep the quad for more than a year then maybe, other-wise go for the 6850 and get the most MHz you can get for your cash and see a real performance gain instead of dreaming when quad maybe utilized properly.

Again it depends on what you use your pc for tbh, if all you do is game then a fast clock dual will be more than adequate.

I do a lot of media encoding and also 3d rendering, having a quad core would make a significant difference when all you’re doing is number crunching.

So really you have to ask yourself what will I be using my setup for.
