E8400 question.

How is anyone supposed to answer that?

What do you use the PC for?

I have a Barton 2500+ that's as quick on most office based tasks on my works E8400.

The Barton is nearly 5 years old were as the E8400 is 2 months old.

A good while hopefully! :-| Still not that many games fully use multicore and the e8400 is still one of the more popular cpu's out there. Does well in benching to for what it is. ;)

It's still not an exact science. IMHO you're just better off leaving it until games start to run slower then look at upgrading. How much RAM and what graphics card do you have?

That's far better than my current spec and I don't really struggle with any games.

I predict you are fine for the next few days :D

It aint a silly question its just one of those things. The comp hardware market moves so fast these days, I cringe every time I buy a game incase it doesn't run perfect.
