For those waiting on the E0s I just got my new 8500 today and it's S-spec is SLB9K which I 'think' is E0 as far as I can tell if so then they are in stock!

SLB9L on my E8600 box and that's E0.

Never understood why we read the Stepping in CPU-Z as the Revision.

dont they have a listing on the site for e0 stepping specifically

Thats only on the E8600.

Are all 8600 10x multi? whats the multi on the E8500?

edit - found it, the 8500 is 9.5x multi.

Which would be best for me to get? Does the 8600 have any big gains for its extra £35? Very tempted to order one right now.

Only you can decide if you want spend extra £35.

if you think about it a £35 extra is not too much inorder to guarentee a E0 . i mean iirc q6600 g0 was >£10 more expensive than a q6600 b3. and the e8600 may be the last core2duo so may hold a bit more value in the future.

i am testing my new e8600 as we speak, and will post after a few hours of stressing. currently at 4.33ghz air but i have a supposidly bad (early batch) chip and it is piping hot.

Was that purchased from OcUK recently?

I have just added an E8600 to my basket, should I hit buy? I just upgraded everything else so now my cpu is old lol.

Your no help :p

Whats yours like? any headroom left for more?

Well you know you always get the "Top End Haters" in here so I was reluctant to say "go for it". ;)

Ok FUG them :p, I would say its better if you cannot get a HIGH FSB out of your Mobo due to the 10x Multi over 9.5x Multi also its going to be a E0 for a fact not luck of the draw for now on E8400's/E8500's.

Also same story as with the launch of the E8400's/E8500's last time round, the E8500's all got the best Cores. ;)

I went from a E8500 to a E8600 cause it cost me like £30 after sale of the E8500 and a few small items I did not need anymore that were sitting around wasted. ;)
