Evening all,

Seem to remember these parts having some good BMW knowledge and hoping I can steal some of it.

Looking at the E90 320D(164hp) and 318D (143hp). There is some fairly steep differences in performance, but looks like a good remap could pretty much negate the differences.

The 318D can be picked up a bit cheaper and would widen my options a bit.

Any impartial advice would be appreciated. :)

The 318d is cheap because it's ****. It's a car you buy if you desperately need a BMW keyring in your life and are not particularly bothered about the car it happens to open.

:)

And the 320D?

Depends really. If you are spending proper money and do 20-30k a year it's a decent car. If your budget is 20p and you desperately need mpg for your 7000 miles a year which you intend to run on a shoestring but want a nice badge then the 320d is a rubbish choice :p Generally older ones become less worth it because reliability eclipses fuel economy as the main issue in ownership.

In other words, more info needed!

Probably averages out around 10k miles. Probably more now with more miles to be put on this as opposed to the other car.

We have 2 cars currently, I do about 8-9k in mine and the fiancee about 6-7k in hers. But all joint miles will be done in this as opposed to split between the 2.
