The LCI E60 is a much better car than the pre LCI E60 IMHO.

It's better, but I wouldnt say much better. The LCI has the LED rear lights, the new automatic box (which aside from styling isnt all that different). It had the option of a sports auto gearbox, but very few of them have it. Slightly more bhp as well.

You may be referring to the updated idrive, which was introduced in September 2008. This is a huge improvement apparently, but not all LCI's have it (LCI's manufactured from March 2007 I believe): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDrive#iDrive_Professional_Navigation_.28CCC.29

If i've missed something, though, let me know.

Idrive was updated on the LCI cars to version3 which increased the speed it worked at and added quick launch buttons. Sept 2008 version 3 was replaced with the new HD idrive.

It is a better car but not loads. Its just an updated car the quality is the same on both just some of the odd styling was addressed and the systems were updated.

The quality is different - and this is detailed in the LCI changes documentation. BMW claim the intention was to give a 'more premium feel' which is as close as you'll ever get to an admission the previous interior was a bit pap. They've changed some of the interior materials, and this coupled with the revised doorcards etc really makes it feel like a well built car again, something I feel the pre LCI E60 doesn't have in the same way.

I think they gave the interior a more upmarket feel by getting rid of the rubbish old ac controls and updating the styling. The plastics and build as far as i can tell haven't changed or at least I haven't noticed any that have.
