E90 - Why no LEDs?

they really do do it perectly well. As for life span, what is the issue with normal bulbs, at 12 years old my car has never had a bulb replaced according to the large book of history and receipts, nor do I even know anybody who has problems with bulb life span. Expensive to replace, what planet are you on? Bulbs cost next to nothing :/

RRRIGHT, I really don't think your 12 year old car is on its original set of bubs:p

Despite this I actually agree with you. I find LED lights a right pain. Stupidly bright.:(

Unless you sit and stare at LED tail lights, from point blank range, they are not "stupidly bright", "hurt your eyes", or "dazzle".

+1

Saying that, I remember once, I was sitting at a junction with my foot on the brake and happened to notice that the kid in the front passenger seat in the car behind was shielding his eyes :D

I still cant recall my eyes being hurt from one though, even if my LED strip is particularly bright.

but when you are in stop start traffic or sat at lights or a junction then you are forced to stare at them from point blank range, they must be a good 3 or 4 times as bright at a regular 21w lamp.

Plus as has been proved in this thread, CELIS type ones aren't even that noticeable at all and that is what the E90 (which this whole thread is about) will be getting.

No, by point blank I meant getting out of the car and standing with your nose an inch from the lights.

They are not that bright at all, you bunch of girls.

You're one of these people whose blinded by fog lights too i suppose ;)

nope, but there is no reason to have them on in non-foggy conditions, so if i'm in a bad mood they may be treated with a nice dose of main beam.

On facelift e46 they put LED lights on the rear (except the fog and reverse bulbs) and also side indicators on the wings are a 3 LED array but the front indicators are still bulbs, always wondered why they left the front indicators as bulbs and not a wide angle LED...

Like that's going to cause them any grief ;p auto dimming mirror will see your beam !

E60 facelift was Mar07 build date onwards and there is no future facelift. Just the F10 coming out in 2010 as has been said.

What is CELIS is it the light bars or just the use of LEDS?

they hurt my eyes.

Quit moaning, man up, they're fine, if they hurt....go get yourself checked out.

LEDS are indeed recently a key feature in a Mid-Cycle Refresh (MCR)
