E92 M3 with new engine?

Love the first one and the 2nd isn't too bad either.

Not sure if the new engine is a great thing. Might have lead a really hasrsh life, not boding well for the rest of the mechanical parts, but it could have been a defect of some kind. Who knows!

Dr House, are you looking to buy? They are both low spec, and I personally wouldnt be interested in one with a new engine just because he has not given a reason, so was it down to a fault with the car, or the owners lack of care?

Can't be that suspicious if they changed it under warranty

This. I would have no problem with buying a car with a new engine provided i knew it was done under warranty and by BMW themselves.

I think the fact that it has all of that work done extends the life of the car really

EDIT: Oh and isn't EDC almost a "must" with an M3?

That would be my concern as well. Regardless of it being replaced under warranty by BMW themselves.

It's obviously had a new engine - because there was something wrong with the old one - lol

I took a despot on the 335i so I have started shopping. I am on a "limited" budget and would not be willing to go much over 20k +/-

I can't afford high running costs at the moment so no 911's or anything like that, I will probably just end up with another BMW of some sort be it a M3, 135i, Z4.

The guy said something failed in the engine, I can't quite remember what I think he said cylinder or injector so the car needed a full new engine.
The spec could be a little better, its missing the EDC but I don't think I can find a good one without spending a lot more.

I'd want details on why the engine was replaced.

Also:
"The car has had a new engine installed 3 months ago by Scothall BMW in Watford under warranty and the paperwork and documentation is to hand. Please call if you would like to know more.
Whilst the engine was out i replaced the clutch and the flywheel with BMW (Invoices to hand). The new engine has 4,500 miles on it and has had the running in service with BMW."

Eh? Surely new engine would have a nice shiny new flywheel on it anyways.

It's an ancillery item so probably not.

I wouldn't be too put off, my 25,000 miles 2008 530i has had a new gearbox in it a few months back and I drive like an old man these days. ;) I would maybe check the history/reason with BMW though.

I dont know why, but new engines put me off. Gearbox/diff/suspension, fine... but new engines... I dont know.

Based on that irrational behaviour, I'm sure others will think the same which may make selling it on after harder.

Question is, would you openly declare it?

I sent you a email.

The good thing about the car in the first link is that it will cost me nothing to run for a year, it has a 1 year warranty on it (1300 saved), new tyres, new discs and pads, it is also taxed so I will only really have to pay for insurance on it. I probably do 6k per year so I am not bothered but petrol.
