EA buy Bioware Corp. and Pandemic Studios

For XBOX360 Mass Effect has been Pinned Down by Microsoft, so shoudl remain unaffected. For PC however, i'm not sure.

EA are very console focussed so far as I can see. That bodes ill for PC gamers as they will just port over any old crap that works on a joypad and forget about us keyboard and mouse owning demographic.

All the publishers are doing it.
EA, Activision, Take-Two and Ubisoft are as bad as each other.

Whilst any purchase of a developer by EA is continually deemed newsworthy, the sheer number of titles published by Take-Two and Ubisoft the last 2 years would show that it's clearly not just EA that are doing it, but the former 2 are never mentioned.

Ubisoft actually tried to buy out SCi (Carmageddon) this week, but pulled out of it.

Oddly enough, going my my current install list, Ubisoft is my favourite publisher, haha :D

This is an etremely bad day for computer gaming, it'll go down in history as the day creative gaming and the future for games was destroyed by money hungry corporate morons.

I don't really see much of a problem on the horizon. For starters the money that becomes available to a dev team when bought by EA can be a huge help in upping the quality of some games, look at Crysis.

Also Bioware is comprised of human beings, not robots, if they don't like the way EA forces them to do things they will leave. Look at the Bungie/MS relationship, things got too controlling so Bungie jumped ship, i'm sure EA are fearful of such events happening to them.

What games have they released?

Well Bioware are currently making an "unannounced MMORPG", which many SWG veterans believe is SWG2 although no-one is talking. EA already have Mythic so I don't know why they'd go for Bioware if they're doing another generic-fantasy MMORPG.

All just rumours of course. :)

I have a feeling this is more to do with bioware 2 mmo projects. EA looking to get a slice of pie. What better way then to buy one of the best rpg makers.

That and bioware needing more cash to fund it

This is the worst news I've had in a long time.

Lets hope they use it just as a money maker, because I love Bioware games, and can't face them being tinkered with by EA.

Hmmm not sure I agree with all the 'well they have more money now surely that = better games' comments on here.

Take a look at the command and conquer series, the Battlefield series - many agree both have decreased in quality since EA took over their IP. Thing is, EA really seem out of touch to the hardcore/serious gamer. Its a company that has built its wealth in recent years on 'The Sims' for Gods sake...

They will always try to appeal to the lowest common denominator aka the console playing 12 year old eejit.
