EA buys out DICE

Predicting where this thread will go, I wanted to raise a related topic that occurred to me recently. I don’t really see why everybody complains about EA so much when it comes to Battlefield 2. It may have been rushed to launch but DICE has had over a year to fix it and haven’t even come close, in fact many would argue it has been worse with some recent patches then it was at launch. Want are EA meant to do, being a business they have to draw a line somewhere and say “we need to release this now, finished or not”.

i sence a great disturbance in the force, as though one of the few remaining voices cried out in pain, and was suddenly extinguished.

I really hope one day EA go down the pan.

They're like a leech, they suck the blood out of promising developing companies, and stifle them.

I just want a developer to turn around to an attempted EA takeover and say "No, we prefer to make games ourselves. Go wreck another games developer, we're not interested."

Maybe Microsoft will buy out EA.

With THQ in financial difficulties EA may nab them up also...hope not.

EA won't be able to keep at it forever, they work on getting things out into the market not getting things right into the market.

That would be a major loss, THQ are superb at what they do. I would be gutted if they had to sell out.

With the games THQ have released why would they be struggling ?

We already know how it's gone with the dodgy patches for BF2 and the lack of quality in BF2142 (imho).

As far as I'm aware EA have published all the Battlefield games, it seems a little unfair to blame them for the BF2 issues and BF2142 but give DICE all the credit the BF1942.

THQ actually seem to be doing very well according to the stock market (http://finance.google.com/finance?q=THQ), which is surprising considering gaming stocks in general have been taking a bit of a hammering as sales drop at the start of a new generation (see Atari, Midway and Take Two for examples).

Good Good, the last thing i would want to happen is for THQ to have to sell out they rock !
