EA DOS Attack...Could this really happen ?

It's a hard read, especially as he likes to capitalise random words - Makes him come across as a cry baby.

Fair enough, if he has actually receieved an attack due through the methods he states, but he's not helping him self with his attitude.

Sounds like someone who is full of bull to me.

As for suing them for his alleged "bit coin" stash.... just LOL.

It's technically possible, but very unlikely. Yet it's up to him to secure his home network and computers, especially if he uses it for work so I don't see how he can expect anyone else to be liable for it other than perhaps the person carrying out the attack (assuming there is a real attack).

You open ports, that adds risk. Chances are he's got insecure wifi but is whinging about this to point blame elsewhere, people rarely want to put a hand up and admit fault.

Claiming he has no backups of clearly important data is classic, but sadly rather common. Wish more people used Crashplan (even the free client) to replicate data or actually bothered running backup software manually every few weeks.

A bit odd. He's claiming a DoS attack (Denial of Service), yet says his hard drives are destroyed? Doesn't add up.

He doesnt do a full backup of his work PC nor do a proper backup of his Bitcoin Wallet on seperate drives nott connected to his PC then its his own fault.

Things like this do happen, its a fact of life and if you dont run a backup of something worth £4000+ then you are a fool.

lmao you guys are saying he's trolling as such..............

It was reported that the origin app (EA) had been hacked 2 weeks ago allowing hackers to gain access to users pc through tunneling with the EA app origin an no anti virus or firewalls will stop it either.

Read it an weep guys.

The client still needs to click a link for this exploit to spawn.

Very unlikely unless you browse dodgy sites. I have disabled the Protocol as per the SlashGear article just to be doubly safe but it's not a wide open door that allows a access to any origin system at any time.

Indeed. I love it when people post "proof" with little/no technical understanding of the article they link to. Combine it with the attitude in the post and you're on to a winner.

Lets consider:

- If your source is a guy on Battlelog, 50% chance that he is some kind of a troll/nutjob
- The Origin App hack only concerns the launching of "Origin" URIs, which I am pretty sure does not apply when launching BF3 (from what I know)
- Of all the BF3 populace who is affected, how can he be the only one coming up with this hackusation?

So let me get this straight...

The guy is claiming that an EA server is DOS attacking his computer (which apparently is being blocked by his firewall) which has corrupted his MFT and destroyed all data on his hard disk?!

The scenario makes no sense.

Yes, EA's servers could be compromised.
Yes, if they were compromised they would be able to launch said attacks.

However, it just does not add up. If you had specifically compromised EA's server and specifically targeted open ports related to the server, why would you launch such a random senseless attack on A random user?

I sincerely hopes he attempts to sue EA. 'cause they definitely don't have the ability to ruin him financially.
Is it in their interests to do so?

For better or for worse, it is entirely possible that even if EA are in the right and had nothing to do with this they could end up paying him just to keep quiet and save themselves court cost / bad media.

Companies regularly pay out to people if the costs of arguing a case is more than the cost of settling without ever thinking if they are right or wrong.
