have not read it myself yet but it seems like EA are being tossers. have also been told many ea forums have been trashed by ppl after hearing this news.

the informant is super secret who is known to be reputable

"Super_Secret”, the man that broke the story about 3.0, the Slim, and more, has posted another thread on N4G about why cross game chat is not here yet for the PS3, and all blame is on a certain unnamed publisher being the douchebag about it

http://www.gamegazette.net/?p=412

here is a ea thread about it, may be deleted soon like the rest

sorry guys ive taken the link down.....that thread had some horrendous pictures in it

So right now, we’re trying every little trick in the book to find a solution that works for everyone, but don’t hold your breath on this one, so far it looks like the best you’re going to get is a gimped implementation of it that only works with a handful of new games.

Now as I said, FW isn’t actually my department and even I’m not supposed to know some of this stuff, but this is actually where we are right now. It sucks majorly, but there you have it. Depending on the end result, it could come in FW 3.1 or it could come in FW 4.0, hell it might not even come at all but rest assured they are working very hard on it. And if it doesn’t come, you know who to blame.”

If you follow that link you see that EA, Valve, Capcom, and Ubisoft are all suspected.

Personally, I think they dropped the ball by not including it from day 1.

this is the thread...also below is another one of super secrets post in that thread pointing at EA, tho i havent seen it as i have just found the thread.

Here is Super_Secret's next post....

"Some of you people could really do with learning to read. I specifically said it was NOT Activision. I thought I gave enough hints as to who it was without directly stating it, but I guess not, so lets try this again, except we'll make it interesting. Here lies the answers, lets see who is clever enough to figure it out? SXQncyBub3QgQWN0aXZpc2lvbi4NCkl0J3Mgbm90 IFViaXNvZnQuDQpJdCdzIG

dpdmUgeW91IGEgaGludDogSFBhdE9vZlAu As for those curious as to why I would call the whistle on this, tell me good sir, what would you do? You have a vested interest in the company you work for and you see this other company constantly getting in the way. Oh sure, on the outside everyone's all buddy-buddy, but that's just good business. And that's what it boils down to - business. Why fix something that doesn't need to be fixed when you can just **** over everyone else and get away with it? You know Sony isn't going to make a huge fuss, they can't afford to alienate publishers and developers (especially HUGE ones), not when Microsoft and Nintendo are happy to welcome them with open arms. Still, all our hard work and it just gets ****ed down the drain because one company can't be bothered doing some support? I ask you again - what would you do? Oh and I appreciate all of you guys trying to spread this around, I hope that they'll back track and enable that feature for as many titles as"

DECODED:

It's not Activision.
It's not Ubisoft.
It's not Capcom.
It's not Insomniac.
It's not Konami.
It's not Take 2.
It's not Midway.
It's not Squaresoft.
are wE All getting the picture yet?

I URGE all consumers who have a distates for this to please voice their opinion and make their voice heard in a civil way. I already sent an email. Feel free to use it as a template, correct any grammtical mistakes and add/deleted from it as neccessary.

To whom this may concern,

It has come to my attention through a reliable source, http://www.n4g.com/ps3/NewsCom-384582.aspx?CT=1,
that EA is directly responsible for the exclusion of several Playstation Network Features. We The CONSUMERS have asked Sony to deliver two major features: Universal Cross-Game Chat and Universal Custom Soundtracks, for the Playstation Platform.

The very idea that EA has threatened and made a fuss about some of their games not working well with said new features, fearing to look slightly inferior, is nothing out of the ordinary, however, to the extent or preventing 25 Million CONSUMERS from enjoying something they have asked for is atrocious. I will not support EA, EA Sports or any EA affiliates until this matter is spoke on, in a public setting to us the CONSUMERS and the matter has been resolved.

I hope you understand 25+ million, kids, teens and adults of the Playstation platform are extremely upset with this information. Please consider working with SONY and Informing us the CONSUMERS about plans to resolve this issue.

Regards,

~NAME

Highly doubt it's Valve, they aren't big enough when it comes to PS3 titles to warrant Sony bending over backwards to please them. Has to be EA, and I don't really understand why he doesn't just come out and say it's EA?

He HAS said it's EA:

are wE All getting the picture yet?

Note the capital E followed by a capital A
Oh, right... missed that. But why didn't he just not outright say in the first place it was/is EA, can't understand why he's trying to be all cryptic about it. Maybe EA don't have the cash to run back through their whole catalogue to sort out which can't support the feature then have to patch them all, think everyone knows they aren't exactly rolling in it at the moment, they even just fired a bunch of people from Maxis (Sims people).

My presumption is that it's FIFA08/09 or Madden that's the problem, they're the franchises that are worth the most to EA not to lose ground on.

My guess would go to FIFA though as it makes the choice between FIFA and PES easy.

The **** storm its created on the EA forums is quite epic.

Been a long time since I have seen such an epic spamming ;)

/apols for having to warn :)

How come things like this work on the 360, is it just EA not playing ball with Sony?

'cos that's just not cricket :(

Don't know if you read it and I'm stating the obvious, but because it wasn't included from the start EA's quite typical sloppy coding means they can't really add it easily.

They have kicked and screamed and threatened to drop support for the PS3 altogether.

Its all rumor, but the guy thats posted has never been wrong. He only posts big things as well. He out-ed the slim a while back with a lot of details that nobody had guessed and he was dot on with all of em,
