EA to include microtransactions in ALL future games.

I know how much the pc players hate microtransactions, the slightly more casual console players tend not to mind it so much, generally speaking.

So how would you feel if i told you EA's Chief Financial Officer said this:

We are building into all of our games the ability to pay for things along the way; to get to a higher level. And consumers are enjoying and embracing that way of business

If you think Dead Space 3 was annoying, expect more...much more.

Its OK... If the game was 10 at release.... But they are still 35+ so its kinda unfair

I don't use them, so I don't care.

Just like there are McLaren garages out there. I don't have the money to waste on one, but it's there if I ever do.

I like it - EA will hopefully eventually price themselves out the business giving room for smaller developers/kickstarters to actually produce the games people want.

I find it so suprising how out of touch management are with the consumer, its unreal.

He's virtually just saying to the press "people pay to win, and they love the ability to do that, so we're giving them the platform to take part in even more pay to win."

Looks like people who want to play games homogeneously are in the minority now.

I also find it ridiculous they appear to think that. A game is meant to be played through, and to get a sense of achievement when you complete a milestone. Paying your way through it pretty much defeats the point of playing it in the first place.

There is such a thing as being too casual a gamer, but they don't seem to get that.

They're seeing people buying stuff for the likes of Facebook games to unlock things sooner.

But - so long as I can still play the game, and still get the same overall end result, I don't mind quite as much (although it is annoying, I just won't pay)

But if they'll be stripping out functionality and making it pay-only - then that's when the average consumer misses out.

As long as its possible to play and complete the game without needing to buy anything extra, then I'm indifferent to the whole thing.

Thinking about it, i think most of these paying elements will be multiplayer.

"BUY SUPER XXX WEAPON FOR £££" - Buy more extreme perks, killstreaks, armour etc.

Thats bad enough. I dont know what I'd do if they added things like that into an SP game, it would totally break it. Hoping that the single player aspect will remain untouched

I wouldn't mind buying half a game and then paying for the other half later, if the game was half the price to start with.

Developing a full game, removing half of it to charge for later, and then still charging full price for the game sucks.

Having played the Simcity beta, its fairly obvious the whole thing has been built from the ground up to accommodate EA's lust for microtransactions.

Having to buy different skins etc but also in the future needing to buy resources for your city, trading with others and buying wonders/great works all look like strong possibilities (hence smaller map sizes).

Isn't this getting a bit sinister? EA's coding team’s aren't bothered with creating a good game but instead want to deliver miniature-ready-to-milk- cash-cows to gamers instead.

MS did this with AOE Online :rolleyes:

now it costs you a LOT of money to complete the lvl40 missions after it went F2P that became Pay 2 Win like all F2P do eventually (if they last long enough :rolleyes:

).

EA are just saying they will include these for the hopeless who buy them (probably on mommy/daddies credit card :rolleyes:

).

Yeah, you'd think they were a profit making organisation, or something... :rolleyes:

Microtransactions make money. Companies exist to make money.
