EA to release their own console - rumour?

Good god I hope not... Knowing EA and their business Practices, they would pull all of their Titles and call them exclusives. The filler material for the other 3 consoles would drop dramatically.

TBH I think it would be folly for EA to do such a thing. The console market is very busy atm People regularly state that there is only room for 2 dominant consoles. Currently there are 3.
Nintendo MS and Sony will not leave the home console market without a considerable fight.
The hand held marked is not worth entering IMO Nintendo just have that sewn up.

If EA did get in it won't be this generation, probably not the next one either.

Apple already tried to enter the console market, and it was a load of rubbish. Cant remember the consoles name.

EDIT it was called the Pippin.

BUT saying that Apple did help some of the development and marketting strategies of the wii, although not in a big way. Nintendo wer ein talks a while back about making the Wii or revolution as it was called back then a joint partnership console, but in the end Nintendo went alone.

Anyway, seems pretty sure from that Frank Gibeau quote above that it's not happening and as already mentioned they don't have the financial muscle to compete with Sony/Microsoft or the expertise with hardware.

Why would you want to deny us the chance to play on a fantastic console? considering nothing is even known about the console, it could be absolutely mind blowing, or crap. Or none existant :p

We have 3 fantastic consoles that are all much of muchness. I'd rather play games on the current 3 than have to buy a forth just to play all the killer titles.

I'm trying to think of some EA killer titles for console.... I really enjoy Tiger Woods as well as Burnout and normally buy each new version when they are released but they are still nothing more than fill in titles to me and wouldn't really be missed if they were exclusive on an EA console.
 
I hope they do, then make all of their titles exclusive to that console, then they might lose all their rights to all the things they own. EA cannot make games IMO, they all feel rushed and unfun to play, BF2 possibly being an exception, and they faster they go down the pan the better. They are only such a big company as all they do is buy out the competition and own rights to let them produce games others cant. Im sure other companies would do a damn sight better a job of something like tiger woods than they can with their half witted team of planks.

Yeah, and it would have that crappy EA Radio thingy playing while you are in the OS part of the console.

Actually, it's beyond them to release anything new so maybe it would be call PlayBox or X-Station?
