If this chap was in the UK, he would certainly have a legal case, the decision would be if you could be bothered with actually persuing it and the associated costs.
So I guess until someone has the balls to take it to court and set a precedent then companies like EA will carry on with this bluff...
You'd loose.
If you say so. You agreed a contract with EA. The court would say it was your fault. Though now days "small print" does not stand up in court but I don't think this would count as small print as it pops up on your screen and tells you to read it.

Hell, most of the copy protection that is forced upon us is illegal. We're legally entitled to make backup copies of our software in the UK, and it's illegal for companies to prevent us from doing so.
I learned to expect nothing but utter tripe and rubbish from EA and then you wont be disappointed much.
I saw that on the dragon age 2 forums, guy created another account to post a complaint, since bioware and EA have merged you have to follow both sets of terms and conditions; and EA's one has something in it about having the ability to suspend/band accounts, if it deems users...I dunno...unfriendly? Also since all the games are linked to one account he can't play any of his other bioware games either.
