Hi all,

It is nearly time for me to upgrade my system...actually that should read totally replace my system. I have been out of the market for a number of years and am surprised how much things have moved on in hardware terms. So I need some help.

I will be parting with the cash in Nov/Dec this year (i know it is a bit early but I like to make researching part of the buying expereince :D ) Budget is about £1500 but I will stretch to £2000 if needed. In the price I wan thte whole sysyem with monitr capable of widescreen and 1920 x 1200 res.

What will I use the system for??? 4 things mainly
1. Photo editing (huge files in CS3)
2. Gaming such as COD
3,. Racing hopefully rFaactor 2 and NFS Shift
4. FSX (desperate to get framerate above 20 in all areas!! - I am in the low singles at the moment :( )

So over to you guys - Hope you can help.

p.s. thanks in advance.

best to come back the week before buying:D

This.

But If you are wanting to look now Intel and the i7 is your best bet if you are mainly going to be using CS3.

With the new Intel's just round the corner that will level the playing field and then we'll be able to spec you. :D

Fair do...bit early I suppose. I kinda thought that the equipment wouldn't change that much, but sounds like I am wrong.

Will post again in a few months.

Thanks.

well i7 the time to buy is soon before the low end 920 becomes extinct. If you wanted to go AMD the 955 is a very good processor and the 965 is coming out in the next few weeks which will see the 955 drop in price.

but if you want to gain that every bit of frame rate go with i7. With just photoshop the i7 is definetly better but the 955 isn't far behind at all.
