Earphones for a ipod

There have been loads of threads similar to this, so doing a quick search should get you some answers quickly.

Around that price it's usually between the Sennheiser CX300 and Sony EX-71's i think.

Stretch a little further and you can get some Shure E2C's which are fantastic and also have a 2 year warranty.

Absolutely! If your budget can stretch, go for the E2C's, they are very good.

If you can't stretch any further then definitely go for the Sennheiser's (which the the phones I use for my iPod) which are fantastic for the budget you are looking at.

Both plugs help isolate your ears, so you can listen to your music much quieter (to help your ears in the long run) as the environmental noise will be significantly reduced.

The way to go is in-ear. :)

Sennheiser MX500 are very good for the price aswell, another forum member (nomisf) has a pair, and after having those in your ears? well you wont want to take them out - honestly - so i would imagine anything "above" the mx500 in the range will also have the same effect :) best of luck mate

Yeah MX500 are nothing special at all and suffer from lack of bass. The Samsung earphones I got free with my YP-Z5 are much better. Sennheiser CX300 are better than both and well worth £25 but make sure you get official ones not copies.

Only thing with CX300, since they're canal phones, you can hear yourself breathing, eating, walking etc some of the time, but on the plus side they do isolate well.

Sony EX71s are one to avoid IMO.

Not earphones, but Koss Porta Pros and AKG K24P/K26P are very good and superb value, and IMO sound better than the CX300. If you fancy something unusal have a look at the Koss KSC75s clip-ons.

MDR-ED21LP Sony Fontopia, 17.99 they kick the crap out of the ones that come with the iPod ;)

Bass booster.

Neodymium magnet for rich powerful sound.

Sony acoustic twin turbo circuit for improved sound quality.

Soft rubber earpiece minimises pressure on ears for greater wearing comfort.

Thinner housing for comfy fit.

Weight 5g.

Y shaped 1m cord.

In the sound section Allllec :O didnt think it was your cup of tea.

Yeah the Mx500 are really nice, ive seen someone say they suffer from a lack of bass - not something ive personally encountered burt i dont pretend to be the all knowing sound man. I personally went for the 500's as im not a big fan of earphones that go right into your ear ( i have odd ears lol )

That aside, either Senheisser MX or CX earphones will do you a treat. but if you could rustle some Shure's ... well *dribble*

Rgds,
Nomisf

I've heard very good things about the Sharp 4 pole ones and the Koss Spark Plugs, but at the moment i have Sony EX71s, i've been using this range for years, if it aint broke..... (even though they did break once!) :D

I may as well ask a similar question in this thread rather than start a new thread. Are there any decent-ish canal phones around for the £15-£20 mark? They don't need to be amazing by any stretch of the imagination as they are just for the girlfriend so she can listen to an MP3 player on the train every now and then.

Just got some CX300's for £16 inc del. I'm no audiophile but they are amazing! Can hear subtle parts of some tracks i never knew existed before. Great for on the train/tube - available in black, white and silver (sadly no gf friendly pink :( )

Got her to get the CX300's in the end.

How do you tell if they are the official ones or copies?

She's just ordered some off a well known marketplace (not auction site), and I want to make sure she gets the real thing even though she has only paid about a tenner for them!

sounds to me like fakes, 50% off the retail price is quite a bit

This should help you find out

I got mine from a well known site with a market place and as above, I paid £12+p&p (~£16 all in). Defo genuine, same packaging as all the reviews, have the long leads etc shown in A2Z's link and sound great.

Did yours come in a small white cardboard box?

Jack

EDIT: After reading that above link, and looking at the packaging link, it certainly looks like mine are fake. I will try opening the phones tonight and see. I too bought from a very well known shop, with a marketplace, for not much past a tenner.
