Earphones for a ipod

I can get a pair of those sony ones for nothing with points off a credit card. They worth getting?
They have EX71SLW and EX71SLB listed

I only have a pair of creative headphones at present which are still better then the nxt speakers I would otherwise use.


They also have cordless big headphones - MDR-IF140K

Or I could get

to replace my tinny nxt things

I think they are great, I like how they isolate the sound, but not so much that they totally block your ears so you cant hear anything, I don't like Shures because they make me feel like i'm underwater and they're uncomfortable, these are much more casual. There are better earphones but you'd probably have to spend more for better. I just bought some EX90's (upgrading from ex71s) and I think they're amazing.
 
i've lost 2 pairs of EX-71s now, they weren't bad but so flimsy they get damaged easily, i've got a pair of E2Cs now and i wouldn't go back, at all. The extra cost is worth it, as they have a 2 year warranty too.
 
When I used some cheapo sony earphone I had to mess with the eq on my mindisc to get a decent sound. I got some ex71s in December 2005 (took me ages to find some black ones) and now have the eq turned off. I haven't had to buy any new earphones since then. They worked so well for blocking the noise on board a plane that I just put them in with no music playing so I could get to sleep.

I've owned the EX71 and IMO they are really poor, much worse than CX300. Shrill trebble, boomy bass and where the mids went I dunno but don't expect them to put in much of an appearance.
Btw those bookshelf speakers are passive and need an amp.
 
i dont know about you but i wouldnt buy shure ec2's. i dont want to look like a secret agent everywhere i go! get the senns ;)
