Easiest way to learn Guitar?

I know but there's a thread on here virtually every day from someone who fancies learning guitar on a complete whim, a dime a dozen and I can't be bothered encouraging anymore, especially when there's zero follow up. I expect 90% of these guys don't actually bother getting started at all or they give up within 6 months.

True, there should be a sticky.

And yes, even though I love Guitar Pro sometimes You Tube is invaluable and of course the Lick Library series.

My normal advice - get a real life teacher. A good one. Structured lessons, little achievable targets to work on week by week, someone to sort the bad habits as they form, give you inspiration and encouragement in equal doses.

Seriously, don't become yet another bloke with a guitar they bought, tried to teach themselves how to play and got bored with after six months sitting in the wardrobe. Get a teacher.

I've been playing for a year and I've never had a lesson, I just use tabs. I have no interest in making music, I just enjoy playing the songs I like.

I think I made a thread on here when I was going to buy my first guitar and everyone recommended the Pacifica, but I ended up buying an Epi Les Paul which has served me well. I really want to get one of the new Gibson SGs.

Thanks for the advice anyway guys, especially Dimple, he has lots of experience with playing guitar.
