Easiest way to record sound from a stream

Hi guys just a quick one, Got a job for a client doing a website now part of it she wants a recording from a local radio station added its only 15 minutes long but the file online is stream only.

I really don't mind sitting here for 20 minutes and recording while the stream plays but i cant find anything free to do this ??

Anyone point me in the direction of a free tool that records whatever audio the pc soundcard is playing at that time please ?

Contact the radio station and ask for a recording and permission to use it. Anything else would be likely to get you into hot water.

I have used Super MP3 recorder to do this in the past but it's not free. I would get permission first from the radio station however as K.C. Leblanc says.

Audacity can record 'What you hear' but I think this is only on Creative cards.

As above though contact the radio station.

I use Freecorder to record audio from web.

Not just on creative soundcards, on all sound cards. You just need to set it properly

+1 for Audacity, have a play around with the recording input, some sound 'perfect' others sound not so good

I use "what you hear" then use the normalize function afterwards.

Just to add, the 'what you hear' is what its called on creative sound cards. On all others (afaik) its called the 'stereo mix'
