Most of the bigger shops will be closed today due to the whole "not only is it a Sunday but it's also a religous holiday" law.

I know we're a Christian country but some of us need to go shopping today :(

Easter Sunday hasnt exactly sneaked up on you? Plan better -> shop the day before?

The words "need" and "shopping" very rarely belong in the same sentence. There are only about three days of the year when the big stores are shut. Nobody will starve or die of boredom.

I'm not in the least bit religious, but I still think everywhere should shut on Sundays just to force people to remember that there's more to life than going out to shop, or Alton Towers.

Andrew McP... living in the past ;-)

I thought that no shops where allowed to open by law today, I'm 90% sure thats right... only 1 of 2 days that the Trafford Centre is closed, today and Christmas day

That depends though, I've pretty much ran out of milk and whereas I don't need any I would rather like to have some, mainly for my caffeine intake tomorrow morning.

It just so happens that Sunday is one of the few days where I'm not either working or on call, thus if any shopping is to be done Sunday is the best day for me. Luckily my local Tesco is a 24 hour store so I can go at 2am during the week if I fancy it.

Halfords is open near us, only because they're providing a 'service'. Also, co-op, but it's a 24/7 convenience store.
