Haha, good example. I can't remember the model I drove, but it was a hatch so longer than, pretty hot as well with full bodykit etc. (this was 1989/90 in serbia), the factory was pretty mint too, until it got bombed.

edit - infact, I think it was a zastava 128, but weren't Yugo previously zastava? I can't remember.

Ocsi is the man for ladas. There's lots of his videos here. I was close to getting a riva before I got the chevette. I may still get one for a comuting car whilst doing work on the shuv, not sure.

My sisters friend bought a Zastava in the early 80's they were a little bit cheaper than the Yugo iirc.

There is still around 12 companies that make Lada like cars in Russia, Although I think it was only Lada and Polski that exported them to the UK.

Is anyone else seeing the same cars as me - utter knackers you wouldnt even want on your driveway let alone actually PAY FOR?

Sorry but the Yugo was unquestionably the biggest pile of manure ever to "grace" our roads. A friend of mine bought one - it had 4 exhausts in 18 months as they kept falling off. Electrical problems (god knows how because they were as electronically advanced as a rubber band), leaks, noises, rattles. Steering rack unbolted itself once too, which was nice.
