easy to use smartphone

it's for my dad, he's not useless with tech (he has a laptop, uses excel, IE etc)
I bought him a MotoG for xmas, he can work it OK but it's not the easiest thing to work - things on my Iphone seem a lot less complicated/straight forward

was toying with the idea of a Nokia Lumia 620 when I bought the MotoG - was told the windows phone OS is easy to use and free from malware, basically can't got wrong

I've never used a windows phone for more than a few minutes - does this seem like a good solution? If so, what phone under £100 is best now?

part of me also thinks that an Iphone would be best for him but they're just too pricey for what he needs it for
 
To turn the moto into an iphone you could reduce the homescreen to one page and a few short cuts if you wanted to save money. Just stick a clock, basic apps like messaging etc... and say for everything else press the middle bottom button.

+1 I scaled up the icons for my mum using a custom launcher and placed shortcuts in places where she can easily access them. She found this more easier to handle than her new iPhone (she actually kept her Ace 2 as a "tablet" because of this for her games). If you set the phone up right, it can be easier for older people to use.

Fully agree with this post.

My parents are technophobes(sp?) but they get on just fine with the way I have set up their Androids.
