Hi

having just set up my 5.1 setup for bed film watching and also having a stereo solution for at desk use i am now in need of a way to quickly switch sound devices from within windows with as few clicks as possible.

Its a long shot but the ideal way would be with a widget with device 1 and device 2.

Any solutions?

You could do it with a macro - I'm not strongly into this, just that my old G15 was a US layout and I had to swap between UK and US layouts to get a £ sign - I tended to keep it in US layout so the buttons did what they said they should do...

So I made a keystroke macro to swap between languages :)

You could do the same, although it'd be a longer, more drawn-out list of key presses...

For me, it would be this:

Windows Key
Right Arrow x1
Up Arrow x4
Right Arrow x1 (I have my control panel set as a menu off the start bar)
"S"
Enter
Down Arrow x1 (to select first item in playback devices list - for me, it's my Plasma)
ALT+S (set default)
Enter

Then if you want to select the second item in the playback devices list, just change it to down arrow x2 at that point (x3 for third... you get the idea - depends how many you have :)

You can then set that to a macro to be fired from a single key if you have programmable keys on your keyboard - the G15v1 was great for that - it has 18 lol

Here's a Macro Recorder if you don't have one already... The full version of that will let you save the macro as an .exe file too so you can leave it as a desktop shortcut or down on your quicklaunch bar or something :)

that's a very good idea, I guess I didn't think of it because I have never recorded a macro that long

I have a g15v2 and a razed nostromo game pad, think I'll assign one of the nostromo keys to do that job.. It has plenty .. Will have to work out the sequence! Closest I'll get to one click.

sorry to hijack this thread! this is a good question which i have similar problem. i have ms sidewinder x4 and asus xonar dg, i have to go to xonar properties and change from headphones to speakers each time i want to change, its a lot of clicks and very annoying.
would it be possible to do same sort of thing with the macros?

cheers Ali

ok ive managed to get it to work, but i couldnt on the g15, it would select audio play back devices but would not move down the list! No matter if i added delay, pressed 'home' to select the top of the list or just used the 'down' arrow.

I have made it work using the razer software on the nostromo gamepad, havent reduced the delays yet, but one button does it all! thanks!
