easyJet flight cancelled

can you question that they've not provided proof/details of prior atc restrictions, and, that, last minute notification - was that really consistent if they had such notified restrictions ?


The problem with ATC slot delays is they can change constantly. The slot can come forward, go back or you can miss it because you're not ready which then lands you with yet another slot.

In this instance, easyJet are right in saying they don't have to pay compensation.
 
Unpleasant yes but sadly a requirement for the quick turnaround.
I spent several years as an Aircraft Dispatcher and you need the outbound passengers processed through the gate, ready to go.

Once the aircraft is on chocks, you're looking at around 12 minutes until the last passenger is off (depending on aircraft size but I'm talking 737-800 / A320), and if the crew are working quickly to do their bits, you'll commence boarding within a couple of minutes of that.
On a 25 minute turnaround, that doesn't leave much time, so not having people stood waiting to board the aircraft isn't viable.
I wish they would allow 27 minutes instead. The only time they are gaining is how long it takes for the first people in the boarding queue to walk through the air bridge onto the aircraft. Or even just do it once they know the aircraft is a few mins away from boarding readiness - not 20 minutes or more.

Depending on the airport facilities, 'the first people' could be 2/3 of the flight if there is adequate space beyond the gate itself.

Personally I just don't bother queuing for flights. I wait by the gate until it's the last few and then join the back of the line.
You've got your seat number so what's the rush (unless you're desperate to get your trolley bag onboard).

if the previous leg took off late due to an easyjet failure, and they were the cause of the missed slots though ? - a causal sequence.

No that's not the cause of a missed slot.

An example would be the aircraft has a slot, everyone is onboard, doors closed ready to go but the ground crew have left and gone to another aircraft.
The slot comes forward and a pushback crew can't get to the aircraft quickly enough to push it back. It therefore misses the slot as it's unable to go.
