Eating the Pizza Slice......Upside Down?!

Please forgive me but I only heard this on a random sports radio station during the Euros & couldn't research much else on it (the programme was broadcasting from an Italian Restaurant in the finals week...hence the location theme) One of the presenters mentioned eating the pizza slice upside down for better taste experience i.e tongue coming into contact with the pizza sauce and topping side rather than the dry (& floured) crust....pretty much the other presenters & guests ignored this direction of discussion...but at least I (perhaps the 1 & only listener) took note:)

Thought it sounded worth a go at least & tried it out. For me works a real treat....certainly a more tasty & pleasurable experience with the zing of the spicy sauce & mozza coming into contact with the taste buds first.....Delizioso!


Appreciate this not exactly groundbreaking but has anyone else ever heard about or tried this eating method for pizza :) ?
 
It's complete BS.

Plus all you'll end up achieving is possibly dripping oil/topping and you'll just generally look like a dick.
 
Surely the crust acts as the solid base on which to support the heavy sauce and cheese?

I reckon you end up with just a sloppy, droopy slice.
 
Good luck doing that without throwing topping/cheese etc on your lap.
 
A friend of mine ate bananas sideways because, he said, monkeys eat them that way as it tastes better (to do with the way the seeds are distributed or something)
 
Get your pizza and give it a good lick all over the toppings.

Now eat it normally.

You're not masticating with your tongue so if you want that tasty lick then get it in without inverting the pizza.

Don’t some Italian places roll the pizza up and wrap it so you eat it a bit like a burrito?

How do you eat a banana sideways ? Like starting in the middle ? then you've got 2 bananas because you ate it in half so you just keep eating from the middle of the parts of banana ending up loads of pieces of banana which is basically the same as taking a bite from the top (if the peel is still on) or starting from the bottom if the peel is off (or on if you're a freak like your friend sounds)

Or did he mean lying on his side to eat it ?

Oh I see.

From memory, he would tend to bite to approximately the centre with each chomp, to get the 'right' flavour. Then eat the other side after

I've seen people eat that little fibrous bit at the very stalk end. What the hell is wrong with people.
