Ebay Advice

why would taking all your money out save you? if a direct debit comes out of your bank account when there's no cash in there, the bank don't go "oh, there's no money in there, we'll let you off this time"!!

it's all in the T's and C's, which (surprisingly) should be read if you get into situations like this. ideally beforehand. if you're in the right, present your case correctly to paypal and explain what's happened and you should have nothing to worry about. that's what i did and the guy's application refund was denied. i've also applied for refunds and been granted on them...you just need to present yourself correctly.

I don't think they can take money out of your bank account without your permission.

of course they can... you've already given them permission by signing up

I always thought though with a Solo/Switch card you cant go overdrawn.

So if i have no money in Paypal and no money in my Natwest account.

Good Luck to them!

Then they'll take you to court for it :o Do you think they haven't thought of this sort of thing.

just tell your bank you lost your card
then you will get another card with a different number on it so they cannot withdraw any funds form it!!

goes through your account number. paypal's been going for years...do you really think they havent covered every angle!?

Well anyway i haven't done anything wrong.

I did exactly what i promised to do. Sent a working item.

He left me feedback ""Just great and arrived super fast 5 stars""

End of discussion. I really cant see Paypal agreeing with him. Even if he does

try anything.

If he paid by credit card, then even if PayPal don't agree, he could still get his money refunded by his credit card company. However, if PayPal take your side then you won't have to pay the money. (PayPal will take the hit themselves)

In all likelihood, from what you've said about the affair, you should be okay.

yeah. some people act like paypal are consciously out to get them. if he applies for a refund, like i said - just tell the truth

My account was a credit card account they CAN NOT take the money off your card I think even with switch or solo they need a signature so I dont beleive they can take it out of your bank either but I know for a fact they can not take it from a credit card.
They will put you account into the negative then you have a few options
1) Just walk away after 200 and something days they hand it to a debt collector who threatens to come see but never turn up
2) Fix the balance loose your cash
3) Leave it in the negative and do battle with paypal they will not chase any claims at all you will need to get police reports etc then contact the financial obusman paypal hate that and will refund you but it is a long process

When what happened to me happened to me I knew I was in the right the easiest thing for paypal to do is give a half refund after you despute the claim
I chased the cash for months just due to principles I didnt want the guy who did it to me to get away with it
There are loads of horror stories on the net and there is a site you can get some help from

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I emailed the guy back and told him to send the processor back, and gave him the CPU serial number of the item I had sent. Funny thing is I am still waiting for a reply 12 months later. ;)

Do you have the name of the person, you never know it might be the same bloke? The one I dealt with said he worked in a computer shop.

Was my initial thought. He's probably trying to get a refund on his original fubared CPU rahter than the perfectly good one you sent him :o

I've started taking tons of pictures of stuff I sell now due to this kind of thing. I thought I was going to have some trouble with a video card I recently sold - but the guy turned out OK in the end

I've been pretty lucky with eBay to be honest - only ever been stung once and it was for a small amount.....wasn't worth the bother of trying to get it back.

I also have one positive feedback from a guy who, strangely, left the feedback before he even got the item (I said I would send it once the cheque cleared).....then he wrote the cheque for the wrong amount....and never replied to my emails to sort it out

That's the reason why I refuse to use Paypal. Too many reverse charges and hassles.

Accept postal orders, cash only and you will be fine.
