Ebay Business Idea

People already do this, was a thread a few month ago on here as someone was upset they'd paid slightly more than on Amazon yet got the item within a day of buying it.

Nothing wrong with this at all, apart from the fact that it definitely breaches Amazon ToS for Prime and will get him banned from Amazon.

Prime members are not permitted to purchase products for the purpose of resale, rental, or to ship to their customers or potential customers using Prime benefits.

If he's not using Prime, then there's probably no issue.

ah come on guys, where your OCUK history!!!

There's a thread on here somewhere where a member bought an item off ebay which came from Amazon. They kicked up a bit of a stink, but were flamed for being stupid.

So yeah, it does work

Quite apart from the drop shipping/reselling thing, I've quite often sold used items on ebay for more than people can buy new, if only they looked! People are idiots :p

No, it doesn't break their conditions.

This is common and Amazon don't care about it. It happened to me and although I was happy with the price I paid, I asked Amazon about whether dropshipping using Prime is actually legit.

It turns out that it is allowed, providing it's shipped from Amazon as a 'gift'. No T&Cs are being broken at all according to their chat representative "Douglas".

I've quoted the exact part of the ToS that it breaches in my post!

But it isn't a gift so you are lying and thus breaking their terms

Yes you have and that's what I questioned. I was told that because he's shipping as a 'gift', it's allowed. Amazon don't really care and despite what is being suggested here, they won't do anything about it. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying that's how it is.

To be fair you said "it doesn't break their conditions." which is not true. It does.

I did this selling all sorts of stuff a while back. You make profit alright but in my experience not a lot but I only did it as a little fun as I spend too much time on my computer I thought why not spend it doing this.

Morally I don't see a problem, don't do it any more can't be bothered.

the actual idea is and many do it already for those that dont know is you buy on ebay and relist instantly on amazon at a cheaper price than others on there. lol :p

so you sell the item without even touching it.

watch this video if you interested lol

Surely this just puts you in an odd situation if Amazon can't fulfil or the price suddenly jumps up, ebay will only surely allow a certain number of cancellations before realising.

Also, with the fees and all that, I would expect to make little money, even less if you factor in scams.

Let me give you a rhetorical idea for a ebay business, lets say someone I know has a business that does this.

The idea is to list items on Ebay that are also sold on Amazon. They list the item on Ebay for a higher price than is on Amazon. Thus profit.

I questioned the fellow and he says people are buying his stuff.

Is this a genius idea or not? Thanks.

First of all you do know prices on amazons can change pretty much every few minutes?

So item is on amazon for £6. Your selling on ebay for £9. Now customer buys off you for £9, you go to amazon and see the new price is £9.50. What do you do? You have already sold it on ebay for cheaper.

Now you have to either take the loss, or cancel the sale and get negative feedback. Both of which aren't good options.

Another scenario is that you sell on ebay. You check amazon and it now says out of stock, ready for dispatch in 1-2 months. Cancel sale and boom negative feedback again.

You also already have a lot of people doing the same thing. So you need to undercut them to get sales. Then there is ebay, paypal fees, etc. You basically walk away with nowhere near what people say they make. Your lucky to make £30 a month and it takes up a lot more of your time than what these people make you think it does.

What you could do is. Buy cheap tat from china through alibaba send it to amazons warehouse and sell as amazon fulfilled. Takes all of 2 minutes and then watch the cash roll in. This takes money to do as you need to have a collection of cheap tat to have a proper amazon store but once you have all that you could make thousands with the right products. Try and get exclusivity to the UK if you can from the supplier.

I've done it in the past, but only managed an average of £5 an hour. Worth it if you're a student or have some free time going spare, but you'll never earn a real wage from it.

It's no different from having a shop, buying your stock from a warehouse and selling for a higher price in your shop. Amazon in this instance is your warehouse, ebay is your shop.

Use something like camelcamelcamel to help you with Amazon price tracking.
