eBay "Buyer Protection" (New charges for buyers)

They can call it whatever they want, they describe it as being for:

•24/7 customer support: Buyers can connect with a real person by phone at any time of day, or start a chat to get quick answers.
•Seller paid after delivery: When buying from private sellers, funds will only be sent once their item has been delivered.

Not sure I'd wrap that up in a label called Customer Protection but gotta give a price rise a marketable name.

I'm not sure they can call it what they want can they if it's designed to be misleading to the general public?

Plus I thought that 24/7 chat thing already existed? Or very similar if not 24/7.

Yeah, definitely better than the 10-12% that was in place before - but it's definitely going to impact some buyers 'buying' something for X price and then messaging to cancel because they suddenly have an additional few quid to pay.

The other part that I didn't like was that the payout now only occurs a few days after delivery is confirmed too. Does that mean the buyer has to confirm delivery in order for the seller to receive the payout? I already ship using tracked (and typically swallow those costs as part of selling on eBay and make the shipping free for the buyer) but am I now dependent on the buyer then confirming item receipt?

If it's going to be anything like feedback, I sometimes wait 30+ days for a buyer to leave feedback on a received item.

I’m guessing the actual cost rise will automatically show on every auction across the board before purchase.

The payout after delivery is rubbish though new or returning sellers have had that for years now.

They will collect a lot of extra revenue just holding on to all that money.

I definitely think established accounts should have extra privileges with regards to getting paid straight away and through a posting method of their choosing (clearly stated to the buyer).

Seems to be delayed for the moment (again). Anyone seen anything eluding to the reason?
Nope, no messages or email at all about it. I'd pushed to sell as much before it went live and now I'm wondering if they're having second thoughts.

Do we know if it's live in other markets? Might be delayed in the UK.

Just had a look on reddit ebayuk, consensus seems to be per category roll put, and started with electronics. No idea if that's a test or just for IT reasons. Though elsewhere has said there's been issues with buyer offers with incorrect pricings getting listed.

I recently sold two laptops via a new personal account to avoid fees on my buisness account. \

I have 1.8k stuck in Ebay. Both items delivered.
They refuse to pay out because " An issue with your pay out account" Yet... its all correct.

Sigh
