Ebay buyer requesting return of NTSC gamecube game because she didn't know what an NTSC game is. Adv

Ask them to return it recorded delivery at their own expense, they will probably deem it not worth the effort, but if they do just resell, not an amount of money I'd bother about.

Having taken all the responses on board, I have just sent one more attempt at a peace treaty with the buyer in hopes they will just accept their error.

If they still aren't happy then I'll just pay for return postage and refund it. But if they try to say postage was more than £1.26 then it will be another story altogether.

You cannot force people to like things, if they don't want it they don't want it. Best to just accept it with good grace and get it back in hopefully the same condition you sent it. Carrying on arguing won't get you anywhere they'll likely just break it claim it was like that when they received it and you'll get a broken item back, if at all.

Completely her fault, she knew what she was buying. Although I wouldn't touch Ebay with a barge pole. Currently involved in a bitter spat with them over a working GPU that they allowed a buyer to return even when I proved it worked fine.

Good luck!

eBay will likely side with the buyer to give them a refund but the postage return will be at their expense. Make sure you screen shot the message where they say they tried it in a UK Pal machine and you have stated it is a NTSC US only consoles game.

if you get it back made sure the next time you list it have the NTSC in font size 40.

Better still put in big capital letters 'US version this will not work in UK consoles'

Not everyone knows what NTSC is and a casual mention of US version can be skipped in a description... you're dealing with the general public on the UK eBay site, selling something for a US console then probs best to make a big deal about highlighting that fact.

The sad thing is I actually know someone who buys games cheap on ebay, and will demand a refund for the tiniest thing as people never want them back due to postage cost.

The last one was because it was 'game of the year' and not standard, only because he didn't like the case. For a £4 game...

I don't really talk to this person anymore. You lose respect fast for someone like that.

Only when a return period is offered and the buyer has simply changed their mind. For items not as described or faulty, the seller pays the return postage.

People on this forum seem to have so much trouble with eBay, but I sell and buy stuff on it all the time and I've never had an issue.

They must have changed that at some point.

I haven't had a bad experience in quite a while, but in the past it was always the buyer that paid return postage. Even in cases where things were faulty. I think counterfeit goods were treated differently though.

eBay is good for buying £2 dvds, games, etc, but selling at that price point is usually never worth it. Tried it in the past and usually just more hassle than it is worth. OK for selling huge money stuff e.g a £50 phone but then you also run into the hassle there too.

Its not really good for anything anymore from the sellers point of view. I have used gumtreee for anything worthwhile recently, got more money from genuine buyers.

Some things in life are not worth the hassle or time involved. I have been stung by multiple idiots on eBay for much larger sums of money. But in the majority people pay on time and are no hassle.

1) eBay always sides with the buyer

2) Assume most people are idiots and simply make the obvious as obvious as possible. For example I do a detailed run down of everything i include down to the box and instruction manual. Yet people still ask if it comes with x or y. The odd person is simply like that, you just need to hope they don't win your auction.

Good luck.
